NTP
Note: The Interfaces feature is available for Litmus Edge Manager 2.8.0 and later.
You can configure the NTP settings by navigating to Settings > Network and clicking the NTP tab.
This feature is best in used in situations where Litmus Edge instances do not have internet access (thus no access to public time servers).
In setups where Litmus Edge instances normally have internet, Litmus Edge instances are NTP Clients to an NTP server (available on the public internet) that provide them clock synchronization services.
Litmus Edge Manager can instead act as a replacement NTP server to provide clock synchronization services to connected Litmus Edge instances. These Litmus Edge instances will be NTP Clients to the Litmus Edge Manager. In this configuration, Litmus Edge Manager will use its local time to provide the clock synchronization to the Litmus Edge.
For Litmus Edge instances to set the Litmus Edge Manager as an NTP Server, see the NTP Servers section of Configure DNS/NTP Servers.
There is also a more advanced configuration that provides clock synchronization from an existing NTP server. The Litmus Edge Manager can connect to an upstream NTP server (which may be available on the public internet or elsewhere) and receive a time that will be sent downstream to its connected Litmus Edge instances. In this configuration, the Litmus Edge Manager will simultaneously act as an intermediate NTP server to Litmus Edge instance and also an NTP client to the upstream NTP server.
[1] Toggle NTP Server
[2] Show Clients: This feature is only available when the NTP server is enabled.
[3] Refresh NTP Client Status: This will show the NTP server the Litmus Edge Manager is connected to. If no NTP servers are available, the Litmus Edge Manager will display a status of LOCAL, indicating that it will synchronize the time of Litmus Edge instances based on the Litmus Edge Manager's local time rather than a time received from an NTP server.
[4] Enter NTP server address: You cannot add an NTP Server that's already been added.
[5] Add: Specify the external NTP Servers that the Litmus Edge Manager will connect to. The Litmus Edge Manager itself will act as an NTP client to these servers.
[6] Delete NTP Server
When you click Show Clients, the NTP Clients dialog box opens. It shows the IP address of all Litmus Edge devices connected to the Litmus Edge Manager.
