If your production environment has old machinery, you can collect data using RS232 or RS485 serial ports. You can set up the connection by using one of the following:

- A physical gateway on the production floor that a RS232/485 serial port
- A serial to ethernet converter such as a [Moxa box](https://www.moxa.com).
