Base Conversion
The Base Conversion processor converts a number from one numeral system to another.
Why use Base Conversion
Use this processor when a device or system reports values in a numeral system your downstream systems don't expect, for example converting a raw hexadecimal register value to decimal before it reaches a dashboard.
How it works
The processor supports the following conversions:
- decimal -> binary
- decimal -> hexaDecimal
- decimal -> octaDecimal
- binary -> decimal
- octaDecimal -> decimal
- hexaDecimal -> decimal
For example, converting the decimal value 12 to hexaDecimal returns c, and converting it to binary returns 1100.
When converting from binary, octaDecimal, or hexaDecimal to decimal, the input must be a string, and that string must be in a field named value.
