The Asset Discovery Tool is available during device configuration in DeviceHub. The tool scans specifically for devices that match the selected protocol and driver, and pre-fills connection parameters for any device you select. This reduces manual configuration when connecting a device.

To search for any device on the network, use the 

 feature. This feature is not specific to device protocols or devices. 

When connecting a device, if the selected driver supports Asset Discovery, a discovery option appears in the device configuration. The tool scans the network for devices matching that protocol and driver and returns a list of results. When you select a device from the list, its connection parameters are automatically populated in the configuration form.
