The Asset Discovery Tool is available during device configuration in DeviceHub. The tool scans specifically for devices that match the selected protocol and driver, and pre-fills connection parameters for any device you select. This reduces manual configuration when connecting a device.

To search for any device on the network, use the [Device Discovery (Network)](docId\:v4tNATJlih1UOzoZHCHFz) feature. This feature is not specific to device protocols or devices. 

# How It Works

When connecting a device, if the selected driver supports Asset Discovery, a discovery option appears in the device configuration. The tool scans the network for devices matching that protocol and driver and returns a list of results. When you select a device from the list, its connection parameters are automatically populated in the configuration form.

# Supported Protocols and Drivers

Asset Discovery Tool is only available for the following device protocols and drivers:

- **BACnet**: available for the [BacnetIP](#) driver
- **OPC UA**: only available for the [OPC UA Client Advanced](#) driver

# Considerations

The Asset Discovery Tool is protocol-specific and only appears during device configuration when a supported driver is selected. To discover any device on the network regardless of protocol, use [Asset Discovery](#) instead.
