15min

Overview

This guide will provide high level guidance onto what options exist to read data from a Historian into Litmus Edge or write data from Litmus Edge to a Historian.

This guide will look at 17 Historians we as Litmus have encountered with out customers or have been asked about by our customers.

Litmus is aware that this list does not include every Historian on the market. The list will be updated with further Historians when they are brought to our attention through our customers.

Reading Data: - The recommended way is to use Unified Automation UaGateway to translate OPC DA and OPC HDA into OPC UA and then use Litmus OPC UA Driver to read data.

Writing Data: - The recommended way is to use Unified Automation UaGateway to translate OPC DA and OPC HDA into OPC UA and then use Litmus OPC UA Driver to write data back.

Product: Honeywell Forge

Honeywell Forge does list OPC UA as one of their core protocols. This should allow to:

Reading Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC-UA Driver to write data back to Honeywell OPC UA Server

Rockwell Automation

Product: Factory Talk including Factory Talk Historian

Rockwell offers both an OPC UA Server as well as an OPC UA Client. This allows to:

Reading Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver to write data back to Rockwell OPC UA Server - Using Litmus OPC UA Server if data are read by Rockwell OPC UA Client.

AVEVA Group

Product: AVEVA System Platform (former Wonderware)

AVEVA offers since AVEVA System Platform 2020 a native OPC UA Server. This allows to:

Reading Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver to write data back to AVEVA OPC UA Server

General Electrics

Product: Proficy Historian

GE Proficy does provide a OPC UA HDA Server as well as provides an OPC UA Connector. This allows to:

Reading Data: - The recommended way is to use Unified Automation UaGateway to translate OPC HDA into OPC UA and then use Litmus OPC UA Driver to read data.

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Server to be able to be read by Proficy OPC UA Connector.

ABB

ABB Symphony offers an OPC UA Server. This allows to:

Reading Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver to write data back to ABB OPC UA Server

Siemens

SIMATIC Process Historian offers an OPC UA Server. This allows to:

Reading Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Driver to write data back to Siemens OPC UA Server

Iconics

Product: Hyper Historian

Iconics provides OPC UA via Remote Collectors for reading data into Hyper Historian. For reading data from Hyper Historian an HDA Server exists. This allows to:

Reading Data: The recommended way is to use Unified Automation UaGateway to translate OPC HDA into OPC UA and then use Litmus OPC UA Driver.

Writing Data: Using Litmus OPC UA Server if data are read by Iconics OPC UA Client.

Copa-Data

Copa-Data includes an OPC UA Client which can be used to send data to Historian 360. Natively data can be read via GraphQL or exported as CVS or XML. In Case the Process Gateway application by Copa-Data is available, an OPC-UA Server is available. This allows to:

Reading Data: - Use Litmus Flows to read data via GraphQL - Import data from csv through Litmus Excel Driver or from XML via Litmus Flows. - If Process Gateway is installed, using Litmus OPC UA Driver

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Server if data are read by Historian 360 OPC UA Client.

PTC

Product: Local Historian

Local Historian is a proprietary PTC product which requires PTC Kepware as well. This allows to:

Reading Data: - The recommended way is to use Unified Automation UaGateway to translate OPC HDA into OPC UA and then use Litmus OPC UA Driver to read data.

Writing Data: - Using Litmus OPC UA Server to read by Kepware OPC UA Client.

Automsoft

For Rapid Enterprise an OPC UA Client is provided which can be used to send data to Rapid For Rapid Industrial OPC DA is available. For Reading data OPC HDA Server exists for all versions. This allows to:
