Metrics
Once an edge device begins communicating with Litmus Edge Manager, the metrics of your edge device become available in the Metrics tab.
The tab is divided into two sections:
- DeviceHub - lists all devices connected to the edge device; shows their status and the number of tags
- Integration - lists integration connectors defined for the edge device; shows their status, rate, and buffer size
Refer to the following metrics you can refer to on the Litmus Edge Manager User UI's Edge Devices Metrics tab.
Section | Column | Description |
---|---|---|
[1] Device Hub | Name | The name of the device connected to the edge system. |
| Tags | The number of tags associated with the device. |
| Success | Error Rate (msgs/min) | The rate of successful and error messages per minute for each device. |
| Status | The current status of the device connection.
|
[2] Integration | Name | The name of the integration service used by the edge system. |
| Rate (msgs/min) | The rate of messages per minute processed by the integration. |
| Buffer Size | The current buffer size of the integration. |
| Status | The current status of the integration.

You can use additional metrics sources to set up an alert based on metrics collected by Litmus Edge Manager. The alert can trigger when a variable reaches a specific value or a set/interval of values. Only one metrics rule can be created per alert. See Set Up Alert Triggers for more.
Note: You can set up alert triggers for different metrics of your edge devices in the Triggers section in the Alerts module. Review the Alerts Guides for setting up alert triggers.
Refer to the following table for more information on additional metrics available for alerts template:
Source | Metrics Name | Description / Purpose | Parameters |
---|---|---|---|
Integration | Connector disk buffer | Monitor Integration Connector disk buffer, which is used when the connector’s throughput is insufficient to handle all defined tags coming from Edge devices. |
|
Integration | Connector online status | Detect unplanned Integration Connector disconnections. |
|
DeviceHub | DeviceHub (DH) online status | Detect unplanned disconnections of DeviceHub (DH) devices. |
|
DeviceHub | DeviceHub (DH) device data quality | Monitor the rate of low-quality (i.e. error) messages. A high rate of low-quality messages indicate a problem with either the physical device or the device driver. |
|
Edge Device | Edge Device online status | Detect unexpected disconnections of edge Devices. |
|
Edge Device | Edge Device license expiration | Detect when the license of an edge device has expired. |
|
Edge Device | Edge Device free disk space | Monitor the available disk space of an edge device. |
|
Edge Device | Edge Device memory available | Monitor the available memory of an edge device |
|
Edge Device | Edge Device CPU Idle | Monitor the CPU usage of an edge device |
