Virtual Machine Installation (VMWare Workstation Player)
You can install the Litmus Edge Manager on a virtual machine using VMWare Workstation Player.
The virtual machine that runs Litmus Edge Manager uses the system time of the host environment. To ensure that timestamps of collected data are as universal as possible, we recommend setting the system time of the host environment to the UTC time zone.
A typical Litmus Edge Manager virtual file for ESXi deployment adheres to the following naming convention: <product-2.2.2>.ova.
- Configure the docker bridge network. By default, this installation allocates the subnet 172.17.0.0/16. Make sure that this does not conflict with your host environment network configuration.

- Set up proxies to access Litmus Edge Manager behind the company firewall.
To use VMWare Workstation Player to install Litmus Edge Manager, you will need to do the following.
- Step 1: Install the Virtual Machine (VMWare Workstation Player)
- Step 2: Launch the Virtual Machine
- Step 3: Log in to the Litmus Edge Manager (LEM) UI
- Step 4: Verify Trial License and Register a Litmus Edge Manager License

You will first need to install the virtual machine that will run Litmus Edge Manager.
To install the virtual machine:
- Start the VMWare application (for example, VMWare Workstation 15 Player). The Welcome to VMware Workstation 15 Player dialog box appears.
Select Open a Virtual Machine from the right pane.
VM Workstation panel- Select the .ova file from the file browser, and then click Open. The Import Virtual Machine dialog box appears.
From the Import Virtual Machine dialog box, enter the name of the virtual machine in the Name field and enter the storage folder path where the virtual machine configuration is stored into the Storage Path field. Then, click Import.

The VMWare Workstation Play creates the virtual machine.
The Litmus Edge Manager device appears in the left pane.
After installing the virtual machine, you will need to launch the virtual machine containing Litmus Edge Manager.
To launch the virtual machine:
- From the right pane in the VMWare Player application, click Play virtual machine. The virtual machine starts up and displays the terminal.
- Note down the IP as this is required for log in.
Tip:
You can change your settings using the Terminal User interface (TUI).
To log in using the Terminal window, refer to the Default Login Credentials section above.
After launching the virtual machine, you can then login to Litmus Edge Manager via a browser.
To log in to LEM Web UI:
- Open a new incognito browser window and paste the IP address into the URL field. The application initializes, and then the Log In screen appears.
- Enter the default credentials. Refer to the Default Login Credentials section above.
- Change your password to activate your account, and then click Submit. The Litmus Edge Manager application opens.
Note: You must change your password after the first log in.
After the Litmus Edge Manager is successfully installed, it will automatically be installed with a trial license.
To verify the trial license:
- From the Navigation panel, select Settings. The Settings pane appears.
- From the Settings pane, select Licenses.
- From Licenses' Available Licenses section, view the license list. Initially, the device operates on a trial license.
