Site and Node-Locked License Overview for Litmus Edge Manager
For a Litmus Edge Manager instance to be able to fully access all features, it must carry a license. This license can be a site license or a node-locked license.
For information about Litmus Edge licenses, see Site and Node-Locked License Overview for Litmus Edge.
Litmus Edge Manager contains a license server that must be added with a site license. Unlike Litmus Edge, a Litmus Edge Manager must use the site license within its own embedded license server to access all features. The Litmus Edge Manager cannot use a standalone license server's site license.
A site license, depending on its constituent features, may act both as a Litmus Edge site license and also a Litmus Edge Manager site license.
To add a site license to Litmus Edge Manager, add it in License Server Management. To set Litmus Edge Manager to use the added site license, see Admin Console Licenses.
For a Litmus Edge Manager to carry a node-locked license, you will need a license key. The key will be a 16-digit code (####-####-####-####) that is valid for certain number of years, based on the license SKU definition. The node-locked license key can be requested from Litmus account executives.
A Litmus Edge Manager node-locked license key cannot be used as a Litmus Edge node-locked license key.
To add a node-locked license key to the Litmus Edge Manager, see Admin Console Licenses.
Important: Each node-locked license key is bound to a Litmus Edge Manager MAC address. If the MAC address is changed, the license key will be invalidated.
Both Litmus Edge and Litmus Edge Manager can carry their own node-locked License version. However, a site license's constituent features will determine whether the site license can be used to a Litmus Edge instance, a Litmus Edge Manager instance, or both.
Litmus Edge Manager also offers features that manage the Litmus Edge site and node-locked licenses. From Litmus Edge Manager, you can do the following:
- Set the initial license status of a Litmus Edge instance. See Step 2: Create an Activation Configuration in Litmus Edge Manager to learn more.
- Manage site licenses that Litmus Edge instances will receive (and the Litmus Edge Manager itself can also receive). See License Server Management.
