Perform the following steps to deploy Litmus Edge Manager (LEM) on Hyper-V:
- Step 1: Create a Gen 1 Virtual Machine using Hyper-V wizard
- Step 2: Configure the Virtual Machine
- Step 3: Start the LEM Virtual Machine
- Step 4: Log in to Litmus Edge Manager
Before you begin, download the .vdhx image from portal.litmus.io for the LEM version that you want to install.
Step 1: Create Gen 1 Virtual Machine using Hyper-V wizard
Start Hyper-V Manager.
- Click on the actions pane and select New > Virtual Machine. The New Virtual Machine Wizard launches.
- Choose a name and location for the LEM VM. The default location is C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\.
- In Specify Generation, to enable the LEM VM to boot on Hyper-V, select Generation 2 as the target VM generation.
- In Assign Memory, specify 16384 MB as Startup Memory and select Use Dynamic Memory for this virtual machine.
- In Configure Networking, select Default Switch.
- In Connect Virtual Hard Disk, select Use an existing virtual hard disk and specify the location for the .vhdx image that you download earlier from portal.litmus.io. Click Next and click Finish.
The newly created VM displays in the list of virtual machines.
Step 2: Configure the Virtual Machine
- Click on the newly created VM and select settings on the action pane to configure the VM.
- Make the following changes on the Settings dialog:
- Boot Order: Select IDE as the default boot option.
- Security: Clear the Enable Secure Boot check box.
- Memory: Ensure the RAM is at least 16384 MB. Ensure that Dynamic Memory is selected. The minimum RAM is at least 10240 MB.
- Processors: Set the number of virtual processors to at least 4. Leave the remaining fields with the default values.
- Network Adapter: Confirm that Default Switch is selected.
- Click Apply and OK. The Settings dialog closes.
Step 3: Start the LEM VM
Click Connect on the actions pane. In the dialog, click Start to start the LEM VM.
