Inspect firewall rules, network interfaces, and packet captures on a Litmus Edge.
Tool | Description |
|---|---|
get_firewall_rules | Return configured firewall rules: ports, protocols, ALLOW / DENY actions. |
get_network_interface_info | Network interface details: IP, MAC, gateway, link status, MTU, speed. Defaults to eth0. |
get_packet_capture_interfaces | List network interfaces available for packet capture. |
get_packet_capture_status | Current packet capture state and list of captured .pcap files with metadata. |
start_packet_capture | Start a packet capture on an interface. Duration 1-30 minutes. |
stop_packet_capture | Stop an in-progress packet capture. |
When to use which
- Connectivity triage: get_firewall_rules and get_network_interface_info.
- Diagnosing a flaky device: start a packet capture on the relevant interface with start_packet_capture, wait, then stop_packet_capture and inspect .pcap files listed by get_packet_capture_status.
- Multi-NIC edges: use get_packet_capture_interfaces first to confirm what you can capture on.
Packet captures cap at 30 minutes per run. Pcap files accumulate on the edge until pruned.
Requirements
- EDGE_URL, EDGE_API_CLIENT_ID, EDGE_API_CLIENT_SECRET.
Related
- System, Events - event log captures network-related anomalies.
- InfluxDB / Time Series - port 8086 must be open in the firewall.
