Step by Step guide to connect Lenses.io to Litmus Edge Manager Kafka Broker

This guide will provide instructions on how to connect Lenses.io with your Litmus Edge Manager Kafka Broker over plain TCP.

Note: This guide will not cover all options like using the Lenses CLI.

Important: This guide will cover connecting to a Kafka Broker on a new Lenses.io deployment.

This guide will not provide instructions on how to manage a Lenses.io or actions not related to connecting Lenses with Litmus Edge Manager.

Step 1: Start to add your Litmus Edge Manager Kafka Broker to connect.

Step 2: Copy your Litmus Edge Manager Kafka Broker Bootstrap Server

Step 3: Paste the server into the Lenses Bootstrap Server box

Step 4: Select the SASL PLAINTEXT option for the Security Protocol.

Step 5: Select the PLAIN option for the SASL Mechanism.

Step 5: Enter the Kafka user which was previously created on Litmus Edge Manager as the username in the JAAS Configuration.

Step 6: Enter the password for the Kafka user which was previously created on Litmus Edge Manager as the password in the JAAS Configuration.

NOTE: This configuration will be hidden by lenses once the configuration is saved.

Step 7: Press the Test Kafka Brokers button.

Note: If all entries are correct, the connection is successfully validated.

Step 8: Press the Next button.

Step 9: Disable Broker Metrics and press the Next button.

Note: Currently Litmus Edge Manager doesn't publish Broker Metrics via JMX.

Step 10: Enter and validate your License and press the Next button.

Step 11: Press the Save & Boot Lenses button.

Step 12: Wait to be redirected.

Note: You will be redirected to the dashboard.

Monitor Litmus Edge Manager Broker performance

Through Explore can the user monitor the performance of all the Kafka topics published by Litmus Edge Manager such as Records/sec or Number of Records.
